Heart to Heart
2 21 10 HT PM
Hebrews 10:19-25 NKJV
Hebrews 10:19 NKJV
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
Hebrews 10:20
by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,
Hebrews 10:21
and having a High Priest over the house of God,
Hebrews 10:22
let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:23
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Hebrews 10:24
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
Hebrews 10:25
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Emphasis on vs. 22& 23 for our time tonight..
It is a privilege to draw close to God. The pursuit is by His allowance.
We live in an entitlement driven culture, this can move over in to our spiritual journey… while there is access through Christ to God – there is NOT an entitlement to God. Given the sacred nature of God creating an allowance for us to access, there should be a reverence for how we access.
In Hebrews 10:22-23 there is some emphasis here on how we access God.
How we access God:
• Conversion – the journey from what was to what now is through Christ. This act of conversion gives us a sense of BOLDNESS in our approach. Knowing that our sins are forgiven, the debts been paid we are face God with Belief and Boldness
• Confidence – in who God is not who we are. Confidence in His faithfulness, His very nature.
• Conviction – Speaking here of a firmness of belief – “HOLD FAST OUR CONFESSION”
• Consecrated – seeing yourself as set apart, I think here of the story of Sampson.
Story of Sampson
Numbers 6 gives the full scope of the Nazarite Vow – for future reading. The Story of Sampson is contained in Judges 13 – in short the Nazarite vow was a separation of an individual unto God.
Judges 13:2 NLT
In those days a man named Manoah from the tribe of Dan lived in the town of Zorah. His wife was unable to become pregnant, and they had no children.
Judges 13:3
The angel of the LORD appeared to Manoah’s wife and said, “Even though you have been unable to have children, you will soon become pregnant and give birth to a son.
Judges 13:4
So be careful; you must not drink wine or any other alcoholic drink nor eat any forbidden food. ◙
Judges 13:5
You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and his hair must never be cut. For he will be dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. He will begin to rescue Israel from the Philistines.”
In our access to God, there is something that He is looking for, something that he wants that ONLY you can give, He cannot and will not take from you… that’s right, there is something that
What God wants to access in us:
• Our Heart
Israel is scattered…
Deuteronomy 30:1 NKJV
“Now it shall come to pass, when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God drives you,
Deuteronomy 30:2
and you return to the Lord your God and obey His voice, according to all that I command you today, you and your children, with all your heart and with all your soul,
Deuteronomy 30:3
that the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you.
washed with pure water.
The dilemma is that all of us deal with Heart problems.
Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV
“The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked;
Who can know it?
Jeremiah 17:10
I, the Lord, search the heart,
I test the mind,
Even to give every man according to his ways,
According to the fruit of his doings.
What God wants to do with your heart:
• He wants to search your heart
Psalm 139:23 NLT
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Psalm 139:24
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
• He wants to secure your heart
Proverbs 4:20
My child, pay attention to what I say.
Listen carefully to my words.
Proverbs 4:21
Don’t lose sight of them.
Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
Proverbs 4:22
for they bring life to those who find them,
and healing to their whole body.
Proverbs 4:23
Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life.
You secure your heart by taking His Word deep into your life.
You secure your heart by trusting His Word through obedience.
• He seeks for committed hearts
2 Chronicles 16:9a NLT
The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.
This is a summed up in that God wants to bring us into Him, so He can gel our hearts with his because ultimately out of intimacy with God he wants to share His heart with you.
Are you ready to receive an intimate trusted exchange with God to hear His heartbeat?
• He wants to share with you His heart
My heart is stirred to know His heart.. at a whole new level..who wants to go with me?
