Collapse of Distinction

Posted on 20 June 2009 by Marty Sloan (0)

Been reading the book Collapse of Distinction by Scott McKain.  My initial thoughts on this book were somewhat skeptical fortunately for me the book exceeded my expectations.  This book is a great read!  I found great insight for the church arena in which I serve and the non church arena where I live as an observer.  In a time where people are less loyal than ever to their business and churches – this book will stir you to be distinct, desirable not just different.

For me the significant takeaway really hit early in the book when author Scott McKain broke down a very simple question for everyone – “are we competing against the competition or for the customer”.  No doubt the easiest thing for us to do is focus on our competitors and forget the passionate pursuit of the customer or in my case the congregant.

I endorse this book to all who want to be the best they can be and not just be different, but distinct!  Enjoy the read!
