The Worship of Facebook

Posted on 30 May 2009 by Marty Sloan (0)

I am neither for or against Facebook – it has its value and pitfalls as really everything does. I do have some observations about it:
First we are designed for relationships! We need people in our life, this reflects that God nature in all of us! Remember he created us to worship Him and He Himself exists in a group with two others called the Trinity. Secondly and a bit more critical, we are more comfortable with relationship on our own terms. Meaning we can regulate how people enter or exit our lives. This is the downside of relationships and the overall sin nature. We gravitate toward the people that accept us the most as we are or have been instead of those who strive to make us better. Next, it is literally possible to lose present time living in the past! This I have a personal problem with because people usually sacrifice something great in the world of could be to reside in the comfort of what was. The what was world, like Israel leaving Egypt has selective memory! We recall only the perceived good! Finally we see that the culture today is more comfortable being transparent with a screen than a real live person. God made us to be vulnerable and transparent. Sin took away our innocence and the proper vulnerability that God gave to us. We should be vulnerable with the RIGHT people! Enjoy… now log back to FB and share your life HA!
