Are you Stupid?

Posted on 12 January 2009 by Marty Sloan (1)

I read this verse this am and it hit me strong! Read it and lets talk about it!

Proverbs 12:1 NKJV Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid.

I have never liked to be corrected or really instructed ( nor do I read the instructions first :) ).  In myself I really do think I always know what’s best for me and everyone else.  Yet, I am painfully aware that this position only proves my ignorance! Even as it relates to myself, I do not always know what is best!

First this verse is more about what we love (Knowledge) and how to get it (Instruction) than it is what we do not like (Correction).  I do love knowledge, I do not want to be the most ignorant person in the room! Since I feel that way I MUST welcome instruction, since I will be instructed in things I know nothing about, correction will not be a matter of “IF” for me but “WHEN”!  Secondly, if you live your life anywhere outside of a closed off cell, you will at some point be found in error! Get over it! Accept it! Move on! If you have any drive, goals or dreams you will have to conduct business in view of others placing your error in public eye!  Third and finally, correction is proof or relationship and even responsibility to someone.  I thank God for those who love me enough to correct!

Given its a Monday – I want to give a bit of congrats to the church Family at Harvest Time! We had two great services yesterday, I thank God for my Pastor, fellow team members and church family!  Its a blessing to serve where there is great unity, I love being the Associate Pastor at Harvest Time!

One Response to “Are you Stupid?”

  1. Bill Fingerhut says:

Wow, true knowledge was given spiritually, which means we can only receive it spiritually.
    1 Corinthians 15:34
Awake [ [Marvin Vincent, Word Studies.] from your drunken stupor and return] to sober sense and your right minds, and sin no more. For some of you have not the knowledge of God [you are utterly and willfully and disgracefully ignorant, and continue to be so, lacking the sense of God's presence and all true knowledge of Him]. I say this to your shame.
    Hebrews 10:26
For if we go on deliberately and willingly sinning after once acquiring the knowledge of the Truth, there is no longer any sacrifice left to atone for [our] sins [no further offering to which to look forward].
    Passage 1 Timothy 2:3-4:
3For such [praying] is good and right, and [it is] pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior,
4Who wishes all men to be saved and [increasingly] to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the [divine] Truth.

True knowledge is hard work, I personally read several versions of bibles and pray for God (who is all of all) to open up the word to aquire the true meaning of the writers. These verses are from the Amplified Bible, it is my favorite.
